SportPROMOTE has been developed to provide training for any healthcare professional who is required to care for an athlete or team of athletes. The course is primarily aimed towards doctors and physiotherapists.
The course focuses on providing the knowledge and skills required to manage the acutely injured or unwell athlete. The course covers a wide range of conditions including the management of spinal and head injury, as well as cardiac arrest and collapse.
By the end of the course the candidate should have the skills necessary to allow them to safely assess and manage the initial treatment of any athlete with a medical or trauma emergency whether on the training ground, or on the pitch.
In order to successfully complete the course, each candidate will be required to attend all the lectures and practical sessions. In addition there will be a multiple choice question paper and practical assessment of the skills attained throughout the course. It is a requirement of the course that all of these elements are passed.
