Next Course..........

1st and 2nd October 2009 at Hampden Park

SportPROMOTE is a 1 and 1/2 day course developed to provide training for any healthcare professional who is required to care for an athlete or team of athletes.   The course is primarily aimed towards doctors and physiotherapists.

The course focusses on providing the knowledge and skills required to manage the acutely injured or unwell athlete. The course covers a wide range  of conditions  including the management of spinal and head injury, as well as cardiac arrest and collapse.

By the end of the course the candidate should have the skills to allow them to safely assess and manage the initial treatment of any athlete with a medical or trauma emergency whether on the training ground or on the pitch.

In order to successfully complete the course each candidate will be required to attend all lectures and practical sessions. In addition, there will be   a multiple choice question paper and  a practical assessment of the skills attained throughout the course. It is a requirement  of the course that all of these elements are passed.

The course has been awarded 9 CPD points by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and the Faculty of Sport and Exercise Medicine
